Recent work on has shown that molecular design can embed functional photonic motifs directly into the crystal lattice, enabling in situ tunability [6,7]. Inspired by these developments, we designed a macrocyclic platform that simultaneously offers (i) a rigid backbone for structural fidelity, (ii) photo‑responsive side‑chains for dynamic refractive‑index modulation, and (iii) high‑Z inorganic nodes for enhanced contrast. The resulting macrolorblx (MLX) molecules constitute a new class of self‑assembling photonic metamaterials .
