The second episode of the final season deals with the immediate, devastating aftermath of Superman's apparent death.
Thematically, S04E02 inverts the classic Superman trope. Usually, the drama comes from the question of "Will he save them?" Here, the drama is "Can he be saved?" and the harrowing realization that maybe he shouldn't be, if the cost is too high.
