Kamal Haasan’s performance is a masterclass in body language. From the way he focuses his eyes to the way he navigates spaces, the attention to detail is meticulous. Madhavi, as Nancy, matches him step for step, playing a character who is vulnerable yet fiercely determined. Their chemistry is mature and subtle, a refreshing change from the loud romances of the time.
Ironically, for a film about a blind protagonist, the cinematography by B. R. Vijayalakshmi was revolutionary. The film uses light and shadow to create visual poetry. One of the most iconic scenes involves Ragu describing the sunset to Nancy. He paints the scene with his words and his violin, allowing the audience to "see" the beauty through his eyes.
