Jesus recalls fragments of his past life: not walking on the Sea of Galilee, but helping a fisherman fix a leaky boat during a storm. “Faith isn’t magic,” he tells Jonathan. “It’s showing up with wood and nails.” Meanwhile, Jonathan’s estranged father appears, claiming he’s found God—and wants to baptize Jonathan in a hotel pool. Jesus hilariously gatekeeps the ceremony (“That’s not even blessed water, that’s chlorine”).

They’re trapped in a broken elevator for 12 hours. Jesus forces Jonathan to confess every lie he’s ever told. In return, Jesus admits: he’s not sure he was divine. “Maybe I was just kind.
