In previous versions, creating a centerline for a 3D object often required a manual, multi-step process involving construction lines. AutoCAD 2017 automated this with a dedicated Centerline tool that creates a line perfectly associated with the selected geometry. If the geometry changed, the centerline updated automatically. This addition was not merely a convenience but a necessity for maintaining industry standards in technical drawing, ensuring that mechanical and architectural documentation remained precise and compliant with ISO or ANSI standards.
