The screen dissolved into the "My Cont Ed" dashboard. It was beautiful. A calendar on the right showed his class starting in three minutes. On the left, a link glowed: SUST 401: Introduction to Green Infrastructure.

A red error message bloomed across the screen: “Data mismatch. Please verify your credentials.”

"It’s a sign," he thought, closing the browser. "I’m too old for this. I should just stick to drafting." He looked out the window at the snowy dark. He thought about his daughter, Maya, who was applying for nursing schools next year. She would laugh if he quit before he started because of a login screen.
