In older versions of SADP (and associated firmware), a critical vulnerability was discovered. The protocol allowed the retrieval of a "device password" or "key" without proper authentication under certain conditions. This flaw was widely publicized by security researchers (such as Monte Crypto).

When you first connect a Hikvision IP camera, DVR, or NVR, it often won't appear on your network automatically because it doesn't have a configured IP address yet. The SADP tool scans your Local Area Network (LAN) and displays all connected Hikvision devices, regardless of their current IP subnet.
