The story begins with a typical tranquil scene: Suske, Wiske, and their aunt Sidonia are at home. Their friend Lambik, always clumsy and unlucky, inadvertently becomes the victim of a mysterious new invention: a (a peeping or spying device) that emits a strange, gleaming light.
