Formula - 1 1988

McLaren had won the championship in 1986, but 1987 had been a struggle against the might of Williams-Honda. For 1988, McLaren boss Ron Dennis made the move that defined the decade. He paired the cerebral, calculating double World Champion Alain Prost with the volatile, aggressive brilliance of Ayrton Senna.

The dynamic was immediate. Prost was the metronome, the master of strategy, car setup, and tire conservation. Senna was the raw talent, a driver who could find grip where none existed, particularly in wet conditions, and who possessed a terrifying level of commitment over a single lap. formula 1 1988
