Led by the charismatic and ruthless female villain, the film pits the family against a group of supernatural outlaws seeking a mysterious gemstone. It is a race against time that forces Hiroshi (the father) to step up in ways he rarely does in the TV series, turning him into a genuine action hero.

The story begins in typical Shin-chan fashion: a misunderstanding. After a botched grocery trip involving green peppers (Shin-chan’s nemesis), the Nohara family is mistakenly whisked away to the United States. They arrive in a tourist trap Western town, but the vacation quickly turns into a fight for survival when they encounter the "Dark Tama-Tama" (Dark Soul) gang.
