Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) have become the de facto standard for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments globally. While the transmission layer of GPON is well-secured through encryption standards (AES), the administrative layer often remains a critical attack vector. This paper explores the security posture of "Admin GPON" interfaces—the web-based and CLI management portals exposed on Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and Optical Line Terminals (OLTs). We analyze common misconfigurations, default credential persistence, and the risks associated with remote management protocols (TR-069).
