Some older custom indicators and EAs rely on third-party (Dynamic Link Libraries). A 64-bit application cannot load a 32-bit DLL, and vice versa. If you purchased a proprietary trading robot years ago that only comes with 32-bit libraries, you must run the 32-bit version of MT5 for it to function.
As of early 2024, MetaQuotes officially of the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) desktop terminal. While legacy systems may still attempt to run older builds, the platform has transitioned to a 64-bit-only architecture to improve stability, security, and performance for modern trading. As of July 1, 2025 , MetaQuotes will stop supporting older platform versions entirely. The minimum supported version will be MetaTrader 5 Build 4755 (released December 13, 2024), which is a 64-bit version.
