Episode Summary: "A Patch, a Modem, and a Zantac®" In this episode, Sheldon’s intellectual ego is bruised when a NASA representative visits his school and dismisses his scientific suggestions regarding booster rockets. The Conflict: A NASA scientist visits Medford High. When Sheldon points out a flaw in their rocket landing calculations, the scientist treats him like a child, leading Sheldon to become obsessed with proving him wrong. The Mission: Sheldon spends the episode performing complex physics calculations to prove that rockets can, in fact, be landed vertically. The Physical Toll: The stress of the "battle" with NASA causes Sheldon to develop a nervous stomach, leading to his first experience with an ulcer (and the Zantac mentioned in the title).
