Rufus is a free, lightweight tool that makes creating bootable drives very easy.
Navigate to the "Boot" tab and move "USB Storage" or "Removable Devices" to the top of the list.
Now that your USB drive is ready, you need to tell your target computer to start up from it rather than its hard drive.
Create a password and a hint (optional but recommended).
