Letters From Iwo Jima -

The film portrays the Battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese perspective. It follows (Ken Watanabe), an intelligent, unorthodox leader who defies traditional suicidal banzai charges and instead orders his troops to fight from underground tunnels. The narrative is interwoven with letters written by Kuribayashi and ordinary soldiers, particularly Private Saigo (Kazunari Ninomiya), a baker drafted into the army. Through their eyes, the film explores fear, duty, honor, and the human cost of war.
