Blackbeard's Point

The story does not end with the head bleaching in the sun. Local folklore suggests that after the skull had served its purpose as a warning, it was taken down. Some accounts say it was eventually rescued by friends of the deceased pirate, while others claim it was acquired by a local tavern owner.
