Released in April 2019, .NET 4.8 was designed to be a highly compatible, in-place update to versions 4, 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7. While newer versions of .NET (like .NET 8) are the current standard for new projects, .NET 4.8 remains a serviced component of the Windows operating system.
