These sites host modified or browser-based versions of CS 1.6 specifically designed to bypass network filters (Johnson, 2021). This paper asks two central questions: (1) How do technical actors enable access to CS 1.6 on restricted networks? and (2) What cultural and psychological needs does "unblocked" gameplay satisfy?
