Yuhibbunahum Kahubillahi Wallazina Amanuu Ashaddu Hubbanlillah
("They love them as they [should] love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.")
| Principle | Application | |-----------|-------------| | No love for anything rivaling God’s love | Cannot obey parents if they command shirk (Q. 31:15) | | Love for God must be measurable as ashadd | Self-audit: do I love money, status, nation, or family more than God’s commands? | | Love for Prophet & believers is subordinate | Love for the Prophet is part of love for God (Q. 3:31) |
The false lover, who loved a worldly object "as he loved Allah," is left devastated when that object is lost. But the believer, whose love for Allah is "stronger," finds solace even in loss. Because their primary connection is with the Ever-Living (Al-Hayy), they remain anchored even when the world around them crumbles.
The phrase is part of verse 165 of Surah Al-Baqarah in the Quran. It explores the nature of devotion and the intensity of a believer's love for the Divine. Translation and Spiritual Meaning
This verse serves as a profound benchmark for the believer's heart, contrasting the misplaced devotion of those who take "equals" to God with the intense, unwavering love of the true believer. 1. The Context of Surah Al-Baqarah 165
While others might love their "gods" only when things go well, a believer's love for Allah remains steadfast during both ease and hardship.
