The study of interactive storytelling and player engagement has been an area of interest in human-computer interaction (HCI) and game studies. Researchers have identified several key factors that contribute to player engagement, including agency, emotional connection, and cognitive involvement (Hamari et al., 2014; Rigby & Hamari, 2010). Visual novels and interactive games, in particular, have been shown to offer a unique blend of storytelling and player interaction, allowing players to engage with the narrative in a more immersive and interactive way (Kusahara, 2015).
