Unclogging a shredder is 90% patience and 10% elbow grease. Always start with the Reverse function, use lubrication to loosen the fibers, and never reach into the machine with your bare hands. With proper care and occasional oiling, your shredder should provide years of jam-free service.
Most modern shredders have built-in features to help you clear minor jams.
If after trying all the above your shredder still won't turn—or it makes a loud grinding noise but the blades don't move—the internal gears may be stripped. Unfortunately, gear repair often costs more than a replacement shredder. At that point, it’s time to recycle the old one and buy a new model.
