You succeed, but at a cost or with a complication.
The entire game uses one rule:
| Step | Component | Description | |------|-----------|-------------| | 1 | | Choose a name and an “essence” (human, fae, construct, etc.) with no mechanical effect—purely narrative. | | 2 | Role | Select one of 20 Roles (e.g., Arcanist, Scoundrel, Warden, Luminary). Each Role provides a unique starting Ability and a list of future Abilities. | | 3 | Gear & Bonds | List a few items (narrative-based) and one bond (a connection to another PC or NPC).
