Written by the show’s co-creator John Enbom, S02E06 finds the perpetually defeated catering team working a warehouse fire sale hosted by the real-life crime novelist James Ellroy (playing a brilliantly unhinged version of himself). The premise is pure Party Down : a party for the end of something.

The complete Party Down series in HEVC can fit comfortably under 20 GB for a 1080p remux. Episode 6, with its chaotic fire-sale lighting (shadows, smoke, sudden flames), would bloat under AVC. HEVC cuts that bloat by 40-50% with no perceptible loss.

Steve Guttenberg serves as a mirror for the team, particularly Henry and Roman. He is an actor who has found peace with his career—enjoying his wealth and status without the constant desperation for "prestige" that plagues the catering staff. His contentment highlights the team's misery.
