The suspense peaks when Alan finds a hidden compartment in his studio during a power outage. Inside is an old cassette tape labeled ‘98 Archives’ . He plays it. It’s a recording of a woman screaming—the Judge’s first wife. Alan realizes his house was used as a torture chamber 28 years ago, and the walls have "memorized" the sound, which his sensitive equipment—and his traumatized brain—are now picking up as residual echoes.
